Famous People from Stanton County, Kansas including Galen Fiss and James Yancy Callahan
 

Galen Fiss was linebacker who played with the Cleveland Browns from 1956 to1966. He was captain on Cleveland’s NFL championship team in 1964.  Fiss was born in the small town of Overland Park in Stanton County Kansas in 1931.

   

James Yancy Callahan lived in Stanton County, Kansas from 1885 to 1892. In 1886, a year after he moved to Kansas, he was elected Register of Deeds for Stanton County. He was reelected in 1888 and served until December 1889, when he resigned and returned to Dent County, Missouri. In 1892 he moved to Kingfisher County, Oklahoma. Four years later he was  was nominated for Congressional delegate from Oklahoma Territory, and was elected running on the Free Silver ticket to the 55th United States Congress.
