![]() In the late 1800s Archer County pioneer Michael Baughman posed for this photo on a water wagon. He moved to what is now Archer City Texas in 1870's. He, along with CB Hutto plotted the town of Archer City. Uncle Mike and his brother Frank built the first post office and some other buildings in the new town... tap to read more and see full size |

![]() A local post office opened in 1878, and in about 1879 C. B. Hutto settled nearby and platted the town. The town now had daily mail and a daily stage to Wichita Falls. In 1892 the post office name, Archer, was changed to match the town's name. |
