Price was born
July 23, 1945. He is a Midland, Texas native who emerged to
stardom at the start of the 1970s as a session musician playing trumpet and
trombone. Price picked up on brass instruments while in junior high
in order to become involved with his school band. Price
continued to hone his talent in high school where he played with
various local bands at parties, proms and whatever other social
gatherings needed a dance band. "I must have played with a million
groups", he said in an
article
by the Midland Reporter-Telegram in 1972.
In 2006, Price wrote about growing up in Midland and mentions one of
his childhood friends, "Billy Conner shot me with a BB gun. The BB
went through my left cheek and landed on my tongue. I took it out of
my mouth and handed it to him, and then went to show my mother the
hole in my cheek, " according to his

From September 1968 to February 1969, Price played with Buffalo
Springfield. He also toured and recorded with Delaney, Bonnie and
Friends, Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen and Eric Clapton. From
1970 until 1973 he toured extensively with The Rolling Stones
including their 1972 American Tour, and appears on the albums,
Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main St. and Goats Head Soup.
Throughout the 90's and into the 21st century, Price continued to
perform, compose and record. He played alongside Eddie Van Halen,
Sheryl Crow, Richie Sambora, Don Henley, John Cougar Mellencamp,
Bryan Adams, Peter Frampton and many more. His most recent album,
Then and Now, was released September 9th, 2014.
