Famous People from Dickens County, Texas.

Jim Humphreys

Jim Humphreys was born in1921. He was a prominent Texas rancher and the former board chairman of the National Ranching Heritage Center. From 1948 much of his life was spent on the Pitchfork Ranch which sprawls across 165,000 acres in King and Dickens counties. He married Berneice Anderson in 1951.  When Humphreys retired as ranch manager for the Pitchfork Ranch in 1986 he move to Lubbock Texas where he died in 2007.
