Life in Floyd County Texas 1850 - 1950

On July 13, 1951 Lockney Texas got their first access to dial phone service. "These New fangled machines, like Lockney's new dial telephone system, doesn't bother Mrs. J. B. Harper or Mother Harper, as she is known. Just turned 95 years of age, Mrs. Harper is very alert and hears plenty well enough to talk over the telephone".
