Charlene Holt was born Verna Charlene Stavely in Snyder Texas
April 28, 1928. She was a famous beauty pageant winner, actress and
model. After she graduated from high school in Hagerman, New Mexico,
she attended McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.
Holt was crowned Miss Maryland in 1956 and in July, 1956
participated in the Miss USA pageant where she was a semi-finalist.
She had a successful modeling career when she reportedly caught the
attention of director Howard Hawk after he saw her in a Revlon
lipstick commercial who later cast her in several of his films.
After her debut appearance in the Sandra Dee-Bobby Darin comedy,
If a Man Answers in 1962, Holt went on to appear in such
films as Days of Wine and Roses, Man's Favorite Sport?,
Red Line 7000 , Zigzag, and the TV movie Wonder
Woman.
