Aaron Latham

Aaron Latham is a journalist who wrote the article that inspired the movie Urban Cowboy and co-wrote its script with director James Bridges. Latham is best known for his novels and screenplays, including Urban Cowboy, Perfect, Code of the West, and The Cowboy with the Tiffany Gun. He is married to CBS newswoman and 60 Minutes correspondent Lesley Stahl. In 1967, he was engaged to the actress Sigourney Weaver. Born October 3, 1943 Latham is a native of Spur Texas in Dickens County in West Texas 67 miles east of Lubbock. He is the son of Annie Launa (Cozby) and Cecil Clyde Latham. Latham’s father coached high school football and his mother was a teacher, according to a 1977 feature in People Magazine.

Latham died on July 23, 2022, at the age of 78.
