Livingston Parish, Louisiana
Seat: Livingston
Livingston Parish is the 99th fastest growing county in the US
based on rate of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for
all counties that began the century with more than ten
thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Livingston Parish which was established in 1832, grew in
population to 91,808 by the year 2000. In the six years that
marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the parish increased
the number of residents by 25 percent bringing the estimated
total population in July 2006 to 114,805.
The outstanding growth of the last six years has made
Livingston Parish the second fastest growing parish in the
Pelican State of Louisiana and the 99th fastest growing county
in the nation.
The median value for homes within the 648 square mile
jurisdiction of Livingston Parish was $96,100 in 2000 but the
Bureau had no statistics on home value for 2006. Determining
how the rapid growth may have affected the value of homes in
the area is difficult but the current auctions that follow
should give some indication of the bargains still available. |
