Paulding County enjoyed incredible growth during the first few
years of the twenty first century. According to the U.S.
Census Bureau estimates Paulding County is the ninth fastest
growing county in America based on percent of growth between
January 2000 and July 2006 for all counties that began the
century with more than ten thousand inhabitants.
The county has been home to many notable individuals in recent
years, including country music stars Travis Tritt and Patty
Loveless as well as record producer Emory Gordy Jr. and Ray
Traylor, former World Wrestling Federation superstar. It is a
part of the Atlanta metropolitan area which includes Atlanta,
Sandy Springs and Marietta.
Paulding County which was established in 1832, had already
grown in population to 81,608 by the year 2000. But in the six
years that marked the beginning of the 21 Century, the county
increased the number of inhabitants by 48.9 percent
bringing the estimated total population in July 2006 to
121,530.
The astounding growth of the last six years has made Paulding
County the third fastest growing county in the Peach State
of Georgia and the ninth fastest in the nation.
Although no figures are available to determine how the growth
may have affected the price of homes in the area, in the year
2000 the median cost for a home within the 314 square mile
jurisdiction was $106,100. |
