81st Fastest Growing County In the Nation Bryan County, Georgia Seat: Pembroke Bryan County is the 81st fastest growing county in the US based on rate of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for all counties that began the century with more than ten thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau estimates. Bryan County which was established in 1793, grew in population to 23,417 by the year 2000. In the six years that marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased the number of residents by 26.6 percent bringing the estimated total population in July 2006 to 29,648. The outstanding growth of the last six years has made Bryan County the sixteenth fastest growing county in the Peach State of Georgia and the 81st fastest growing county in the nation. The median value for homes within the 442 square mile jurisdiction of Bryan County was $115,600 in 2000 but the Bureau had no statistics on home value for 2006. Determining how the rapid growth may have affected the value of homes in the area is difficult but the current auctions that follow should give some indication of the bargains still available. |
