Seat: Lawrenceville
Gwinnett County is the 69th fastest growing county in the US
based on rate of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for
all counties that began the century with more than ten
thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Gwinnett County which was founded in 1818, grew in population
to 588,448 by the year 2000. In the six years that marked the
beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased the number
of inhabitants by 28.7 percent bringing the estimated
total population in July 2006 to 757,104.
The outstanding growth of the last six years has made Gwinnett
County the fifteenth fastest growing county in the Peach State
of Georgia and the 69th fastest in the nation.
The median value for a home within the 433 square mile
jurisdiction of Gwinnett County was $142,100 in 2000 but the
Bureau had no statistics on home values for 2006. Determining
how the rapid growth may have affected the value of homes in
the area is difficult but the current auctions that follow
should give some indication. |
