Coweta County is the 61st fastest growing county in
America based on percent of growth between January 2000 and
July 2006 for all counties that began the period with more
than ten thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census
Bureau estimates.
Coweta County which was established in 1826, grew in
population to 89,215 by the year 2000. In the six years that
marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased
the number of inhabitants by 29.2 percent bringing the
estimated total population in July 2006 to 115,291.
The outstanding growth of the last six years has made Coweta
County the twelfth fastest growing county in the Peach State
of Georgia and the 61st fastest in the nation.
It is difficult to determine how the growth may have affected
the value of homes in the area but in 2000 the median cost for
a home within the 443 square mile jurisdiction of Coweta
County was $121,700. |
