Christian County is the 54th fastest growing county in America
based on rate of growth between January 2000 and July 2006
for all counties that began the period with more than ten
thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Christian County which was established in 1859, grew in
population to 54,285 by the year 2000. In the six years that
marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased
the number of inhabitants by 29.9 percent bringing the
estimated total population in July 2006 to 70,514.
The outstanding growth of the last six years has made
Christian County the fastest growing county in the Show Me
State of Missouri and the 54th fastest in the nation.
It is difficult to determine how the rapid growth may have
affected the value of homes in the area but in 2000 the median
cost for a home within the 563 square mile jurisdiction of
Christian County was $97,900. |
