Culpeper County is the 52nd fastest growing county in US based
on percent of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for
all counties that began the period with more than ten thousand
inhabitants, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau estimates.
Culpeper County which was founded in 1748, grew in population
to 34.265 by the year 2000. In the six years that marked the
beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased the number
of residents by 30.2 percent bringing the estimated total
population in July 2006 to 44,622.
The outstanding growth of the last six years makes Culpeper
County the third fastest growing county in the Old Dominion
State of Virginia and the 52nd fastest in the nation.
It is difficult to determine how the growth may have affected
the value of homes in the area but in 2000 the median cost for
a home within the 381 square mile jurisdiction of Culpeper
County was $123,300. |
