Effingham County is the 51st fastest growing county in America
based on percent of growth between January 2000 and July 2006
for all counties that began the period with more than ten
thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Effingham County which was established in 1777, grew in
population to 37,535 by the year 2000. In the six years that
marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased
the number of inhabitants by 30.4 percent bringing the
estimated total population in July 2006 to 48,954.
The outstanding growth of the last six years has made
Effingham County the tenth fastest growing county in the Peach
State of Georgia and the 51st fastest in the nation.
It is difficult to determine how the growth may have affected
the value of homes in the area but in 2000 the median cost for
a home within the 480 square mile jurisdiction of Effingham
County was $106,600. |
