50th Fastest Growing County In the Nation
Pasco County, Florida
Seat: Dade City
Pasco County is the 50th fastest growing county in America
based on percent of growth between January 2000 and July 2006
for all counties that began the period with more than ten
thousand residents, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Pasco County which was founded in 1887, grew in population to
34,4768 by the year 2000. In the six years that marked the
beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased the number
of residents by 30.6 percent bringing the estimated
total population in July 2006 to 45,0171.
The astounding growth in the last six years has made Pasco
County the sixth fastest growing county in the Sunshine State
of Florida and the 50th fastest in the nation.
It is difficult to determine how the growth may have affected
the value of homes in the area but in 2000 the median cost for
a home within the 745 square mile jurisdiction of Pasco County
was $79,600.
