Kaufman County is the 48th fastest growing county in America
based on percent of growth between January 2000 and July 2006
for all counties that began the period with more than ten thousand inhabitants, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Kaufman County which was founded in 1848, grew in population
to 71,310 by the year 2000. In the six years that marked the
beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased the number
of residents by 30.8 percent bringing the estimated total
population in July 2006 to 93,241.
The astounding growth of the last six years has made Kaufman
County the eighth fastest growing county in the Lone Star
State of Texas and the 48th fastest in the nation.
It is difficult to determine how the growth may have affected
the value of homes in the area but in 2000 the median cost for
a home within the 786 square mile jurisdiction of Kaufman
County was $85,700. |
