Wasatch County, Utah
Seat: Heber City
Wasatch County is the 35th fastest growing county in America
based on percent of growth between January 2000 and July 2006
for all counties that began the period with more than ten thousand inhabitants, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Wasatch County which was established in 1862, had grown in
population to 15,215 by the year 2000. But in the six years
that marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the county
increased the number of residents by 33.1 percent
bringing the estimated total population in July 2006 to
20,255.
The astounding growth of the last six years has made Wasatch
County the number 2 fastest growing county in the Beehive
State of Utah and the 35th fastest in the nation.
It is difficult to determine how the growth may have affected
the price of homes in the area but in 2000 the median cost for
a home within the 1,181 square mile jurisdiction of Wasatch
County was $185,300.
