Franklin County is the 31st fastest growing county in America
based on rate of growth between January 2000 and July 2006
for all counties that began the period with more than ten thousand inhabitants, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau
estimates.
Franklin County which was founded in 1883, had already grown
in population to 49,347 by the year 2000. But in the six years
that marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the county
increased the number of residents by 34.9 percent
bringing the estimated total population in July 2006 to
66,570.
The astounding growth of the last six years has made Franklin
County the fastest growing county in the Evergreen State of
Washington and the 31st fastest in the US.
It is difficult to determine how the growth may have affected
the price of homes in the area but in 2000 the median cost for
a home within the 1,242 square mile jurisdiction of Franklin
County was $102,000. |
