July 26, 2007

Federal authorities yesterday issued a warrant for the arrest of former Butler County Clerk John Dunivan.

A U.S. magistrate in St. Louis issued a warrant for "unlawful flight to avoid prosecution."  The 60-year-old Dunivan, of Poplar Bluff, was last seen in the Poplar Bluff area on July 11.  Dunivan served as Butler County Clerk for 20 years before recently retiring.  He is charged with first degree statutory sodomy by Ripley County authorities after accusations of "deviate sexual intercourse" with an 11-year-old girl on June 29.

Dunivan was last seen on July 10, 2007 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Police say he may have been headed to his sister's house in Allen, Texas. He was last seen driving a red 2000 Toyota Tacoma extended cab with Missouri license 241 NN4 with a red camper shell. Dunivan is 5'10" tall and weighs 175 lbs. He has gray eyes.
