Local law enforcement authorities discovered her body in a shallow grave in the backyard of her home in Rowland Heights, California, on September 23, 2005. A state arrest warrant was issued by the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles, on September 30, 2005, after Lam was charged with murder.
