The Matador Ranch maintained a line camp three miles northeast of the the Turtle Hole creek's headwaters. A post office stop between Childress and Matador operated there for a short time. The area was used for both agricultural and grazing purposes. Turtle Hole Creek rises twelve miles northeast of Matador in northeastern Motley County and runs east for twelve miles to its mouth on the Middle Pease River, eight miles southeast of Northfield and two miles west of the Motley-Cottle county line
