Found inside: " From Atascosa they moved to Frio County in 1860 and settled on the Leona River. While they were living there a band of 300 Indians made a raid in that section and killed several white men, among those murdered being Len Eastwood and Jim Saunders. The he families got together, gathered up their horses, cattle and household goods and started back to Atascosa. On the road close to a place known as the Brand Rock about fifty Indians threatened to attack them, but when the white people showed fight the savages made haste to depart. The people remained in Atascosa about a year and them moved back to their homes in Frio county . . . " Read more Look inside |
