Egbert Souse commented, "The
curved devices in the middle of the shop are a type of drop-hammer.
It's used to form flatbar into curves, and they're automated. Just
keeps pounding away as you adjust the bar being worked, much faster
than a hand hammer. The drive belts were originally leather, but
many were made of heavy cloth as it's a lot cheaper".
