6 Pinal County AZ
Sixth Fastest Growing County In the Nation
Pinal County, Arizona
Seat: Florence

Pinal County enjoyed explosive growth during the first few years of the twenty first century. According to the U.S. Census Bureau estimates Pinal County is the sixth fastest growing county in America based on percent of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for all counties that began the century with more than ten thousand residents.

Growth from the Phoenix metropolitan area to the south has begun to spread into the northern parts of Pinal County. The cities of Maricopa and Casa Grande as well as many unincorporated areas have shown accelerated growth patterns; suburban development is likely to continue southward through the county.

Pinal County which was founded in 1875, had already grown in population to 179,537 by the year 2000. But in the six years that marked the beginning of the 21 Century, the county increased the number of residents by 51 percent bringing the estimated total population in July 2006 to 271,059.

The astounding growth of the last six years has made Pinal County the number 1 fastest growing county in the Grand Canyon State of Arizona and the sixth fastest in the nation.

Although no figures are available to determine how the growth may have affected the price of homes in the area, in the year 2000 the median cost for a home within the 5,370 square mile jurisdiction was $93,900.
