26th Fastest Growing County In the Nation
Hamilton County, Indiana
Seat: Noblesville

Hamilton County is the 26th fastest growing county in America based on percent of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for all counties that began the 21st Century with more than ten thousand residents according to recent U.S. Census Bureau estimates.

Hamilton County which was founded in 1823, had already grown in population to 182,740 by the year 2000. But in the six years that marked the beginning of the 21st Century, the county increased the number of inhabitants by 37.3 percent bringing the estimated total population in July 2006 to 250,979.

The astounding growth of the last six years has made Hamilton County the fastest growing county in the Hoosier State of Indiana and the 26th fastest in the nation.

It is difficult to determine how the growth may have affected the price of homes in the area but in 2000 the median cost for a home within the 398 square mile jurisdiction of Hamilton County was $123,600.
