10 Lyon County NV Tenth Fastest Growing County In the Nation Lyon County, Nevada Seat: Yerington Lyon County enjoyed phenomenal growth during the first few years of the twenty first century. According to the U.S. Census Bureau estimates Lyon County is the tenth fastest growing county in America based on percent of growth between January 2000 and July 2006 for all counties that began the century with more than ten thousand residents. Yerington’s original name was Pizen Switch due to a business that used to sell liquor that tasted like poison. It was later renamed Yerington after H. M. Yerington, a powerful railroad executive, in an attempt to flatter him enough to bring a rail line to the town. Prostitution is licensed and legalized in
Lyon County and features the Moonlite Bunny Ranch and the
Sagebrush Ranch. On December 8, 2002, the Moonlite was
featured on HBO's America Undercover show special, Cathouse.
As of 2007, it is the only brothel featured on Cathouse: The
Series, now airing in a monthly second season on HBO from
February 2007 to July 2007.
